More Adventures in Vegetables
I took another little stroll off my beaten path 'o vegetables today. I found in the supermarket these very interesting looking beans.

They are called cranberry beans. Pretty aren't they?

The pods are speckled, and when you open them, so are the beans!

Unfortunately, after cooking them, they loose their cool spots.

I tried this recipe. It tasted okay, if a bit too lemony for my liking, but the beans are interesting, and I would definitely try again with another recipe.

I had even better luck trying brussel sprouts roasted. Those were really, really
good! I halved them, and by the end of the meal we had to ration them out because all the kids except Her Purpleness wanted more. Yep, you read that correctly. My kids wanted seconds and thirds of brussel sprouts. And in other news, hell has frozen over.

Off to bed. This has been a very long and busy day.

Brussel sprouts? Your kids are more adventurous eaters than I!

I kid you not. Brussel sprouts. They were vying especially for the leaves that had fallen off and gotten crunchy. Go figure!

they almost look like jelly beans! too bad, i doubt they taste anything like them...but beans (not the jelly kind) are supposed to be very healthy!

I was actually thinking jelly beans myself! They are just plain misleading.

Those beans are so pretty uncooked, too bad they lose color when cooked.

My kids eat brussel sprouts when all I do is steam them. If I do more (I tend to make them into a salad on Shabbat, with olive oil and lemon juice and something red like onion or cabbage), then they won't touch it.

Great healthy choices, both!
