Pretied scarf - attempt deux
I have many other things that need doing, but I made it white for Yom Kippur, so that should count for something, right?

Here's another attempt at the pretied scarf - I've altered the pattern somewhat.

This time I moved the ties to the front of the scarf - as if it were a 4X42 inch rectangle attached to a 19x14 rectangle that is rounded off in the back, like this:



I finished the edge all around (zig-zag stitch for me, alas I have no serger) and folded back a narrow hem.

A 3X40 inch rectangle, folded in half and turned is pinned around the back and a 7 inch
piece of elastic is threaded through it to gather:





This way, the elastic really is just gathering the pouch in back, the tie secures it to your head. I suppose one could just gather it instead.

Next time, I may try bringing the elastic all the way forward, as in the original try, but I'm trying to avoid the little "wings" at the side that it seemed to create where the gathering ended. This works in that effect, but the ties don't hold it on as snugly. Also, I'll taper the ends of the ties for a cleaner line.
